An Island Named Siargao

It’s 5:00 in the morning and we are riding our motorcycles towards the surf spot.
The street is empty and you can see the palm trees along the road. We get into a narrower road between the palm trees. We finally arrive to the beach and put the surfboards on a boat to get to the break: Cemetery. We get the closest possible to the break with the boat, and walk over the reef to paddle out towards the break.
The view is amazing with two islands on the right side and another two on the left side. It is a beautiful side that goes along the reef. You can appreciate its beauty only when there is a low-tide.
After surfing, we went back at Buddha’s Resort to get ready for the yoga class at 8.30 am. Corinna the teacher, makes this great vinyasa power flow, so that you will be ready for the next surf session in a high tide break.
Breakfast at Buddha’s is definitely great. They have delicious mango and banana pancakes that you eat with fresh mango. The coffee is also one of the best in the island. Do not miss the latte or cappuccino for breakfast!
Our next stop was at Tuazon break, which only works when the tide is high. There, you have to paddle towards the break or just walk over the reef. Here, the waves are bigger than anywhere else and tend to barrel a little bit more than at Cemetery. You don't need a boat to get to the break.
For lunch we went to Miguel’s Tacos, right in the city center. It is a Tex-Mex restaurant whose style is beautifully local. In the afternoon/evening we went back to Buddha’s to relax and have a delicious vegetarian hamburger.

One of the best restaurants to eat besides Buddha’s is for sure Greenhouse, you have to book it one day in advance; they only accept reservations and no walk ins. They offer vegan and vegetarian dishes and also meat. The hole atmosphere here is about the eco-life, so you may discover that they have no extra ventilation.
Buddha’s Resort is a perfect place to stay and offers various trips to wonderful places: The Sohoton Cave, where you can swim with jellyfish, Sugba Lagoon and Island Hopping.
They also have a huge quiver so you can rent the boards you need according to the sea conditions.
Surfing the well known Cloud 9
Yes, it is a great challenge to go surfing in Cloud 9: the wave is super hollow and it barrels as soon as it gets bigger. You can always go surfing in Quicksilver, the break on the left side of the famous Boardwalk. It is smaller and it doesn't barrel when it gets bigger.
But still to be in Cloud9 is a huge thing, the view from the line-up is just mesmerizing and if you get to be there only with the locals the atmosphere is super nice. Don't be scared of it, only paddle out !
As you can see Siargao is charming from the moment you land. Another post will come soon about the hidden treasures of this place. Stay posted.
