It’s all about the Bags: The Weekender Bag

How we experience our travels depends hugely on the bag we use. It doesn't matter if it is for business or pleasure, having the right bag can sometimes almost make a bad trip a good one.

Lately I have been using different bags for my trips. The weekender from Sandlund and Hossain was one of my favorites. It is made out of vegetable tanned leather.

Company co-founder Anders Sandlund comes from a bag making family from the town of Böle in Sweden. The other co-founderTulin Hossain on the other hand comes from Bangladesh. Anders’ and Tulin’s parents already knew each other. They met a few years back in Bangladesh, where they wanted to create jobs and shape a place where progress and social development was possible.

This is how the idea of making a production in Bangladesh started.

In 1999 Tulin and Anders started their partnership. In 2006 the preparations to bring the Swedish tradition of bag making and tannery to Bangladesh finally became real.

Sandlund and Hossain opened a shop in a little studio in Dhaka in 2015. They created a great work environment to make unique and life-lasting pieces, which is only possible if everyone is feeling happy at what they do.

This Bag itself is super soft and tender. The design is a mixture between elegance and practicality. I have traveled around Mexico and Sweden with it - and I really loved it! It is comfortable to carry on the shoulder and to use it as a handbag.

The amount of space you have for this type of bag is just incredible. It fits as hand luggage even in the smallest planes and you can carry actually a week of summer clothes in it.

Altough I had to go through security with the bag at a few airports and put it into luggage storage in a few busses, the material stayed impeccable.

As a conclusion I can say, that it is a great bag to travel with, because it is light, it looks good and the quality is great. Furthermore I could personalize my bag with a touch of Mexico. I'm sure you can personalize yours with a detail from your latest travels.
